My name is Steven.

I was systematically sexually abused and tortured for the first ten years of my life. Like many men, I survived by staying quiet and getting on with life — until the weight of it finally caught up with me.

In my mid-forties I disclosed my abuse and began the hardest, bravest work I’ve ever done: healing. It’s been raw, confronting, and life-changing — and it’s still ongoing.

I started Male Survivors Australia because I couldn’t find enough spaces that spoke honestly to men’s experiences — without shame, without disbelief, and without softening the truth to make others comfortable. I wanted a place that was survivor-led, trauma-informed, and real. A place for the men still carrying it, and for the people who love them and want to help.

This website is a living part of my journey — and an invitation: you’re not alone, and you don’t have to do this in silence.
